Prayer.

I don’t really know how many people read this blog but whoever does I have a pretty urgent prayer request. My neighbors Jay and Steph who attend my church and were my youth leaders from junior high till my senior year of college, are a young couple 30 years old. They are awesome, fun, loving people. Jay just had his second stroke. We have no idea what this means or how he is or if he’s even going to make it right now. He’s 30 and the father of a seven year old girl Ella and a little boy who just turned four on Saturday Griffin. They are at the hospital and my sister is watching the kids. I’m switching out with my sister. It might be a very long night for them and me. Please pray for them. Tell anyone you know to pray for them. Maybe somehow we could get this on here. They are Jay and Steph’s favorite band. I gave them tickets to go see them two years ago after they went through another hard time. It was one of the best nights in their family’s life.

Thanks for praying. I know there is nothing Jay and Steph want more now.

Hannah - I will be praying out here in Missouri for Jay and Stephanie. I’ll also be praying for Ella and Griffin. I pray the Lord grants His wisdom and skill to all of the doctors and other medical staff involved in Jay’s care. Thank you for sharing this request. What a blessing that you and your sister can commit some time to be with Ella and Griffin, especially since they know you already. That is surely a comfort for their parents, even if too much is going on for them to express that right now. I know that at times like these we feel as if we’re being ripped apart, but if somehow, someway we can transfer our anxiety and fears to Jesus, then amazing things will happen. I just know how much He loves Jay and Stephanie and all of their family and friends. He will surround you all in His hedge of peace, comfort, and hope. He is faithful!

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not despaired; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in us… That is why we never give up, our joys to come will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10, 16, 18

I’ve never been to your blog before but came here through Brody’s. Just prayed for their family’s strength and peace. God is amazing in the ways He works and I have no doubt that He is with that family, with Jay in his illness, and with you who are supporting them. God Bless you stepping up and helping them. Miracles happen! In healing or in circumstance.

I came here from Brody’s blog.

My husband and I are about the same age and we have small kids as well. I cannot imagine how difficult this is. I am and will be praying…

May this prayer comfort you at such a difficult time:

Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick, we turn to You in this time of illness. O dearest Comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our sick under Your care and humbly ask that You restore Your servant Jay to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will and know that whatsoever You do, You do for the love of us. Amen.
